About This Spot

Stepping into Turning Tides, nestled on the corner of G. Fernando and Guerilla in Marikina, you find yourself embraced by an atmosphere that quietly balances the buzz of a lively bar with the comforting ease of a neighborhood gathering spot. The space invites those who seek refuge from the relentless pace of the city—a place where evening conversations stretch long into the night, punctuated by carefully curated music and the steady hum of shared moments.

Here, the mood shifts with the day: afternoons unfold with a calm, café-like tranquility, perfect for those who want a break from the usual coffee chains; by night, the energy pulses a little stronger, with live performances that feel intimate rather than staged, drawing in local crowds who come not just for the flavors but the warmth of human connection.

Food and drinks at Turning Tides weave into this experience naturally—flavors thoughtfully prepared to complement the mood rather than steal the spotlight. Whether it’s a flavorful dish savored alongside a cold drink or the comfort of a late-night hideout when everywhere else has closed down, there’s a grounded sincerity here. It’s a spot where the occasional rough edge, from sporadic service moments to seating that invites brief stays over lingering hours, only adds to the sense of realness that comes with a place lived in and loved by its community.

A notable charm of Turning Tides lies in its dedication to creating a setting where the music and the vibe hold equal weight, gently drawing people together without overwhelming the senses. It’s an unpretentious retreat, offering a chance to unwind and savor evenings marked by genuine smiles and shared memories—whether you come for a casual drink, a bit of live entertainment, or simply a quiet space to watch the night unfold.

we had such a great time! The food was fantastic - so flavorful and well-prepared. The music created such a cool ambiance, and the overall vibe was just perfect. It's clear a lot of thought and care goes into creating this experience.

Place was great! We cane for Nina and we have a blast shes still great singer. The food was okay nothings special. I have only concerned by the service coz it was poor especially when the performers starts you can't find any servers on the floor but when you do it takes more than 30 minutes to give what you want. For me I just need a glass with ice and he took almost over 30mins. Well thats my main concern and they do not look at you when they know that your looking for them. Thats all., no comment on the performers coz they performed well at its best.

The kind of place that quietly becomes a favorite (From night to morning, lol) Open until 3 AM! Big plus for night owls like us. When every other café starts closing, this one feels like your go-to hideout. It’s the perfect alternative to Starbucks if you want a quieter, more laid-back spot. Bonus, you’ll see other people there doing the same thing: enjoying the stillness. Price: Reasonable. You get good coffee, good food, and good company (if you have one!) Coffee & Food: Always hits the spot. Simple but satisfying. When your brain says coffee but your heart says cocktail. Good thing Turning Tides has both. Left for café, right for restobar. Choose your fighter. Service: Usually quick and smooth. Staff: Most are friendly, though there were a few times they seemed less welcoming but nothing major enough to ruin the experience. Ambience: Calm. Peaceful. The kind of setting where deep conversations just flow. I used to love the beautiful paintings, they added so much charm. Some of my most honest, heartfelt convos happened here. It’s that kind of place. Overall: Still one of my go-to cafés with friends. UPDATE (09/07)* They’ve switched things up — new dark, modern wall tones and a cozy corner space. Sadly, the cute paintings are gone. The vibe’s a bit different now, but it still has that familiar comfort.

Prices were a bit steep, so we just ordered drinks. I got the strawberry ice blended — tasted more like syrup than real fruit. Chairs weren’t very comfortable either, so it’s not a place you’d want to stay in for too long.

Just celebrated a birthday at Turning Tides and it was lit! We were lucky enough to have one of our fave singers perform live and it totally made the night. The food was alright, nothing spectacular but it did the job. However, the courteous staff and amazing ambience more than made up for it. The vibe was so chill. The music was also top-notch, the live performance was fire! Overall, would totally recommend Turning Tides for a special occasion or just a night out with friends. The staff and atmosphere will make you feel like you're in for a treat!
